Tempting II is Done!!!

Yesterday with much relief and happiness I finished Tempting II for my sister Barbara as a late birthday present.

I really enjoyed making this project - the seamless pattern from knitty made the pattern easy to knit and I love making items in the round.

Here's the lowdown:

The pattern: Very well written and easy to follow. The only tough part was the very last line of how the buckle is incorporated. Friends, family and random strangers all read the instructions with me many times to comprehend how the buckle was to be placed. In retrospect, the buckle wasn't challenging, I just didn't get it. I love the seamless pattern and how it was knit in the round. I did not enjoy the monotony of a sweater entirely made out of ribbing but my initial thought was that the sweater would go fast since it was a small top in a small size. I just forgot about my "small" attention span. I was "tempted" numerous times to put it down and knit something else to break up the monotony.

The yarn: I used Rowan calmer - just over the 4 skeins listed in the pattern. Not much over but I would have been out of luck to finish the yoke without the 5th skein. I loved the steel gray color, although I was "tempted" to make it in red. I have almost 2 full skeins left and will have to figure out a cool scarf pattern. The skeins have about 225 yards each which did feel never ending while knitting. I really enjoyed the look and feel of the yarn as did most everyone else who petted the top.

Overall Impression: I'm thrilled I made it - good experience knitting a seamless sweater in the round. I love the look and feel. The pattern was very well written. I'm glad this sweater is for my skinny sister because even though the pattern extends to my size, it would just not be flattering. This sweater makes a great first top for a beginner. The instructions are clear (minus the buckle part but I think that was my own personal issue). I loved the yarn and would like to find something else great to make with the leftovers.
